Ideas You May Want To Avoid

There are literally thousand of products claiming to be a miracle cure for baldness. Billions of dollars are spent on these miracle cures with little or no results. Before experimenting (and wasting money) on any of the fraudulent products, call or email their parent companies, requesting copies of their research, evidence of success, and the credentials of the firm testing the hair loss product. Make sure that the testing firm is independent and not a subsidiary of the parent company or financially biased toward the claims of the product. While most products are tested by the FDA before they can be sold to the public, that does not mean they have to back up their claims as to their effectiveness. This only means they are relatively safe.

In the past, with other less successful methods, the results from some types of procedures and "cures" for baldness have resulted in less than spectacular results. We are mentioning some here to caution you against their use.

Mini & Micrografts: These are grafts are transplanted in larger groupings of 3-6 follicular units. Micro and mini-grafts are outdated hair transplant technology used to save time and cut corners. Your hair will look much less natural and while it might save you money, you more than likely will not be happy with the results.

Plugs: Plugs are transplanted groupings larger than 6 follicular units. This is extremely outdated technology. This is the reason that hair transplant procedures have established a negative reputation. The result of plugs are hair that ends up looking like bad doll hair.

Skin Flaps & Scalp Reductions: Flaps and reductions are the extensive alteration of the scalp tissue. This not only looks extremely unnatural, but can require extreme surgery to correct.

Misc. Creams, Shampoos & Chemical Treatments: Billions of dollars are spent every year on hair growth "treatments". Many of these are simply false claims. While they MAY not harm your hair in anyway, they will definitely impact your wallet and increase your frustration level. There are only two FDA approved treatments for assisting the regrowth of hair and that is Minoxidil and Propecia. Nizoral based anti-dandruff shampoo may actually assist in stronger healthier hair, but the only 100% effective treatment to achieve a full head of hair is either laser stimulation or microscopic surgical transplants.
